HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE

30 May

You want to know why I hate you?

Well I’ll try and explain…

You remember that day in Paris

When we wandered through the rain

And promised to each other

That we’d always think the same

And dreamed that dream

To be two souls as one

And stopped just as the sun set

And waited for the night

Outside a glittering building

Of glittering glass and burning light…

And in the road before us

Stood a weary greyish man

Who held a child upon his back

A small boy by the hand

The three of them were dressed in rags

And thinner than air

And all six eyes stared fixedly on you

The father’s eyes said “Beautiful!

How beautiful you are!”

The boy’s eyes said

“How beautiful!

She shimmers like a star!”

The child’s eyes uttered nothing

But a mute and utter joy

And filled my heart with shame for us

At the way we are

I turned to look at you

To read my thought upon your face

And gazed so deep into your eyes

So beautiful and strange

Until you spoke

And showed me understanding is a dream

“I hate these people staring

Make them go away from me!”

The father’s eyes said “Beautiful!

How beautiful you are!”

The boy’s eyes said

“How beautiful! She glitters like a star!”

The child’s eyes uttered nothing

But quiet and utter joy

And stilled my heart with sadness

For the way we are…

And this is why I hate you

And how I understand

That no-one ever knows or loves another

Or loves another

lyrics by THE CURE from album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987)

Yourself

30 May

When you’re by yourself, what type of thoughts run through your mind? Are they destructive, painful and wasted, or the ones that are gentle, forgiving and kind? Do you have problems so intense you feel sick, or could accepting and dealing with them be your trick? Does your life seem to be a negative cycle that will never end, or that of a willow in a storm that will gracefully bend? Do you feel your life is a catastrophe, or are you an exceptional person that won’t let that be? If you’re tired of being depressed and blue, here’s some advice from me to you…you want your cold and broken heart to some day mend, then just like the great willow, all you have to do is bend. The Ten Commandments for the New Millennium

30 May

1.                 Thou shalt make it your business to get in touch with God first each day.

2.                 Thou shalt remember to pray for your mother and your father as soon as you finish praying for yourself.

3.                 Thou shalt honor thyself enough not to take things that do not belong to you, and this includes other people’s people.

4.                 Thou shalt refrain from telling someone something about sombody until you have told that somebody to their face.

5.                 Thou shalt refrain from saying anything to anybody that you would be ashamed or afraid to say to God, to God’s face.

6.                 Thou shalt do no less than two good things for yourself each day.

7.                 Thou shalt do one good thing for another each day.

8.                 Thou shalt confine all whining, complaining and criticizing to every other Wednesday, between the hours of 2:00 A.M. and 3:30 A.M., when the moon is full. When the moon is not full, oh, well, thou shalt wait until it is.

9.                 Thou shalt live fully, or thou shalt not. This choice is yours.

10.             Thou shalt believe the best about everything and everyone until you have concrete evidence from God to the contrary.

Until today, you may have believed the old ways and the old laws did not apply to your life today. Just for today, apply each of these commandments to every aspect of your life.

Today I am devoted to applying the old-millennium laws to the new-millennium conditions in my life!
